Aside from the concert aspect of his career, he has written for film (Another River to Cross: The Alabama Indian, a film for Alabama Public Television) and enjoys experimenting with different combinations of sounds and tonal colors. Chandler served as Director of Music at Pinson United Methodist before moving to Auburn to study music education. While at Pinson, he helped organize the church’s first ever Gospel Singing Service where several out of town groups (ReSound of Red Bay, AL, the Cleghorn Family of Winston County, AL, and others) performed a wealth of Southern Gospel classics. He concurrently served as the organist as well. He is an active percussionist and pianist, having performed with the Wallace State Community College Concert Band as a percussionist and with the Wallace State Jazz Band as its pianist. He also performed with Winfield Independent Percussion during their 2019 performance season. He is also a local church pianist and organist and has played at several area churches. Chandler studied at Wallace State Community College where he completed both his high school diploma and Associates Degree at the same time. He attended Auburn University where he studied Music Education and also studied piano under Dr. Jeremy Samolesky.
